Where to look

Kiln 3 uses more steam per degree of heat-up than its twins, and the gap sits in the hot end of the cycle. That points at heat-delivery loss, a failing trap or a fouled coil on this header, rather than the schedule or the door seals. We can narrow it to a station.

It has drifted from its own pattern and from the fleet. The signature points at heat-delivery loss on that header, a failing trap or a fouled coil, worth a physical check. Flagged early in the charge.

Beyond monitoring, this is where the software reads the data and tells the operator what to change: species control and shorter runtimes. Each one depends on a few answers about a given mill first, so we show it as what is possible, not what is promised.

Drying curve vs target, one charge

Moisture over the charge. The preset schedule kept drying after the target was already hit.

What it flags. This charge reached its 12% target at hour 27, but the schedule ran it to hour 33, over-drying to ~10%. If the schedule has room to tighten, that is about 6 hours and the steam that went with them, back on every charge. Whether it does is one of the first things we confirm.

The sensor is calibrated to one species and reads high on others. The platform can correct per species, so the schedule targets the true moisture, not the sensor’s. Where that is happening, it is a direct way to stop over-drying, once we confirm the calibration.
